A wonderful base oil for Aromatherapy!
Almond Oil
The ancient poet Spencer says
Like to an Almond tree
With blossom brave bedecked
Whose tender locks do tremble
At every breath that heaven blowne.
Shakespeare used the mention of almonds as a simile for temptation & there are many references to it throughout the Bible
Greek mythology is associated with the almond tree & it is said that the leafless flowerless tree was clasped to the chest of Demophoon as he thought of his long lost lover & at that moment it burst into glorious flower as a symbol of true love. Hence almonds given at weddings
The therapeutic value of Sweet Almond Oil has been recognised since the time of Moses.
The oil is odourless & has a fine consistency which facilitates intensive moisturising & conditioning of the skin. It is especially valuable when combined with Essential Oils (2-4 dops of Essential Oil(s) per tablespoonful of almond oil) for a therapeutic, relaxing or sensual massage.
